Having An Open Mind to Explore

And so it begins. Our journey to explore a new land, a land that until 4 months ago we had not even considered exploring.

When we made the decision to make Japan the destination for our annual spring break trip, I have to admit I questioned my judgement. Had I really given it enough thought before I pressed "confirm purchase" on Air Canada's website?

Over the weeks following our ticket purchase, I shared our destination decision with several people. To my delight I kept hearing consistent responses: "Oh Man, was there 10 years ago. Amazing country, best trip ever", "My brother lived there for 2 years, absolutely loved it", "We have been 3 times, we can't get enough"....and on and on it went. All of a sudden, I felt like we had stumbled on to something really good.

Over the past few months I have spent several hours researching the country and planning out our journey. Needless to say, we are ready!

During my research I came across the following Japanese proverb:
井の中の蛙大海を知らず (i no naka no kawazu taikai wo shirazu) - which literally translates to a frog in a well does not know of the great sea. In other words, some people stay in their hometown all of their lives, and never see what the world has to offer outside of their city walls.

On March 27th we will begin our journey to experience first hand all of the wonderful places that are hidden in and around such great cities as Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Hiroshima.
